LaShon James-Major When the Borrower Tries to Sell You

I had a first on a signing this evening - a borrower kept me almost 40 minutes after his loan signing trying to sell me on the benefits of his network marketing venture, Pharmanex.

Now, I can appreciate anyone trying to get a new business off the ground but the one bad thing about some people involved with MLMs is that they are a little too passionate about what they are selling. …

Tom Miller How To Survive In An Online Business

If your company does not offer its services/products online, then you're definitely living in the Stone Age.

Businesses today realize that in order to stay competitive, they have to communicate with today's audience who do business primarily online.

Running an online business means that you have a global audience. And having a global audience means that your store is up and running twenty four hours every day and seven days of the week. While your customers from New York might b…

Mary Ellen Harvley What Do the Borrowers Expect?

I have come to wonder this on more than one occasion.

I like to do my bookkeeping the old fashioned way--by way of paper and pens or pencil.

Tom Miller Budgeting Your Money When You Own A Business

One of the most difficult things to do when you start a new business is putting together a budget. Without any financial history on which to base income and expenses, it may seem like guesswork, but as part of any business plan a tentative budget can be established with some thought and anticipation for the future.

In most businesses there are two main categories, income and expense. Under your expense category there can be several sub-categories often falling into two main areas of co…

Kathleen Durante Visit to San Diego North County

This week I went to North County and I saw some of the fire damage in Rancho Bernardo area and Valley Center. I was told my favorite bakery in Rancho Bernardo, Edelweis, was burned down. The fire came right up to people's back yards. There were a lot of scorched Palm Trees. I did not take my camera on this trip so there are not any pictures--sorry! I will try again. This weekend I drove down Hwy 94 to survey some of the fire damage from the Harris fire. At the time of this blog I believe the Harris and Witch Creek fires are officially contained but the firefighters are still fighting the Poomacha fire on Palomar Mountain.

I took some pictures that I will post here. While I saw some burned down homes, I did not take pictures…

I have had a rough time with my health over the past few years (including quadruple bypass surgery).
Two weeks ago, I took a fall that produced a concussion, skull fracture and several fractured ribs. My granddaughter happened to wake up upon hearing odd noises coming from the kitchen where she found me with my eyes rolling around speaking jibberish.

This had to be pretty hard on HER (she is 9 and it is her first trip visiting grandma on a vacation of sorts).

Valerie Watts This has nothing to do with notarizing... just grief in many forms

July is getting to be my least favorite month. My beautiful Scottish Fold cat died. She wasn't that sick when I took her to the vet--what happened there must have hastened her demise. But my Dad's a retired vet and I know you don't win 'em all. She was 13 or 14 years old (I think) which is fairly old for that breed of cat, but still... I miss her so much. She was so friendly and affectionate without being annoying. She was a cat that dog lovers loved. She was so gentle that I could tell child…
