We Stamp For Cash

Roger Morales

Would you turn down a job if the SS does not want to pay for E-Docs

Would you take the job or turn it down?

Not only would I NOT take it, I'm going up on my fees. Why charge the same price we were charging when fuel was about $1.50 cheaper? I already charge $50 extra for CountryWide and FiServe loans because of the volume of pages and the faxbacks. I'm going up across the board.

Me too. I charge extra for the faxback service too.

I sure would! My fee is set for me to make a profit just like they are doing. Why does everyone think the notary ( the one traveling, listening, putting up with traffic, dogs, kids, you name it) doesn't deserve to be paid a decent wage? I have increased my fees a little to compensate for the gas prices and so far most places are accepting it.

Need more info - how much were they going to charge you? And I hope you are not one of those notaries working for less than $125.00.

Don & All: I've been working for $75(first 25 miles) plus $25 for e docs. A lot of signing services seem to have trouble with that. Do you think I would loose biz if I increased the fee? I'm in a rural area of AZ. and not too many notaries in the area. What say all of you?

You don't know unless you ask...The worst that could happen is that they say no! Yes, you may lose some but you will gain higher fees and more money for less work. It has to be your choice. You do have a major plus...You don't have a lot of Notaries in your area.

Thanks for the input and encouragement.
It's been really slow here this month so far. Only 2 signings.
I hope things are better for all of you.

Hey Margaret, you shouldn't be accepting $75.00 for ANY signing, especially because you are in a rural part of AZ. If you raise your prices, you will get paid the higher fee. The less notaries there are in your area, the better for you. You can raise your fees, and it would be totally justified because, it is just you in your signing area. I think that $75.00 is terrible low and so not worth even walking out the door for unless the signing was like 2 miles form your home/office.

So then maybe accept it if its two blocks away.

I look at what the total fee is. If it is enougn given the circumstances of the loan, ie: distance traveled, size of pkg, faxback, ect. ?, then I take it, if not I pass.

Yes, I would. I agree with the last person, times are tough but you have to stand your ground. It cost alot of money for paper and toner and two sets of docs. They really don't care is what it boils down to, and they know that they will find a notary on hard times that will do it. I always guage what I will accept by all of the factors like how far away it is, who the lender is, etc.

Yes I would! SS wants us to lower our fees but paper, toner & gas prices keep rising.
